The Importance Of Sleep When It Comes To Your Health

Sleep is so important for all of us. Whilst different people can survive on less sleep than others, there is no denying that having too little or too much can certainly affect us. A healthy sleep routine is vital for both our physical and mental health and for getting us through each day without flagging.

A good night’s sleep truly can do wonders for our health. On the physical side, it supports a healthy metabolism and can regulate hormones as well as supporting brain development and thinking more clearly.

On the mental health side, it can imporve our mood, concentration and memory and also help to reduce stress.

We have shared exactly how you can help yourself sleep better – we hope you find this guide helpful.

Make Sure You Are Comfortable

There is nothing worse than sleeping in an uncomfortable bed and we are usually uncomfortable because of our mattress and/or pillows. If you are struggling to get a good night’s sleep, check and see if you need a new one.

We have recently been using a mattress from Simba. Having kids and full time jobs, sleep sometimes falls by the wayside but even when we were heading to bed, we weren’t comfortable.

This simba mattress is really comfortable and the open structure Simbatex® foam adds elasticity and comfort, and is designed to encourage airflow. The springs are designed to support body alignment and pressure relief and so far, we have really found that the mattress is supporting our bodies and ultimately is incredibly comfortable.

As someone who does the majority of the washing, I appreciated that there is a zip-off top too for washing or replacing if needs be! The unique technology in Simba mattresses truly is second to none and I have never felt a mattress as comfortable as this. It is no wonder the brand is the most five star rated mattress brand in the world!

Turn Off Technology

In today’s digital age, it is little wonder that we find it hard to switch ourselves off from the world at night. Technology is the worst for this, allowing us to have access to a whole world at our fingertips and we will often find ourselves falling down internet rabbit holes when we really should be sleeping! If you are struggling to get a good nights sleep, try switching off your technology for at least and hour before bed and see if that makes a difference.

Switch Up Your Diet

This isn’t too say you need to cut out all those things that you love so dearly but it is important that you try switching up your diet to see if any changes are made there. Sometimes we are simply eating a little too much ‘rubbish’ and need to ‘reset’ our bodies, making them feel a little better in order to get a good night’s sleep. Try upping your fruit and vegetable intake, especially antioxidants, and try reducing the junk food that you consume.

These are just a few ways that you can improve your sleep routine – we hope you find them helpful.
